The visit provided an opportunity for the Ambassador to discuss both local and international questions with the Mayor, who also serves as the chair of Parliament's Committee on Defense and Law Enforcement.

Accompanied by Tibor Navracsics, head of Fidesz's Parliamentary Faction, Ambassador Foley also met with members of the Hódmezővásárhely City Council and representatives of local organizations.

Following a presentation by Ambassador Foley in the magnificent building of the Town Hall, emphasizing the many ways in which Hungary and the U.S. work shoulder to shoulder on a vast number of international issues, the day's program concluded with visits to the Csodaház, a day-care center for disabled children, and the Emlékpont museum, paying tribute to Hódmezővásárhely history between 1945 and 1990.
