"Hungary has always been a European state", stated PM Oettinger of Baden-Württemberg who encouraged the Hungarian delegation to do its best for a quick accession to the euro-zone.
Mr Oettinger spoke of the Euro's advantages and the prerequisites of introducing the common European currency, i.e. a sound fiscal policy and a decrease in budget debt. "But it is worth it", added the PM, "we only have good experiences regarding the Euro".
The PM invited his colleagues from Fidesz to Baden-Württemberg for an on-site look at the different ways of supporting research and development (R&D) since new technology can provide a base for welfare and societal security.
Mr Navracsics recalled the good relations Fidesz always had with the government and CDU organization of Baden-Württemberg, pointing out that the German state demonstrates a successful model, being Europe's most dynamically developing region. "This state has been capable of balancing its budget while maintaining a constant pace of economic growth and further development of the industries which pioneer that sector. This is the reason we asked Mr Oettinger to help us acquire the know-how needed to implement these experiences", stated Mr Navracsics.
Hungary, he continued, is in need of studying and understanding successful European models. "True, we have a cabinet incapable of solving our current difficulties, but hopefully one day we shall elect one that can succeed in implementing these experiences", concluded the leader of the parliamentary group of Fidesz.
Mr Semjén said that supporting families and demography were the most important issues for his party and expressed his anticipation to study the German successes. It is for this reason that the chairman of Hungary's Christian Democratic People's Party was happy to accept Mr Oettinger's invitation and promise to share his experiences in this field with his Hungarian colleague.
