Fidesz Welcomes Castro's Resignation
2008. február 20., 15:56
Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mr Zsolt Németh said Fidesz welcomed the decision of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro to resign because the cult of personality he established was a vital element of the country's repressive regime.

As a member of the free world, Hungary cannot accept less than a complete regime change in Cuba, including the respect for human rights, free elections and the establishing of democratic institutions, stated Mr Németh, who said Fidesz believed that Castro's resignation was the first important step in this direction. The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs stated that all further developments in Cuba should be measured against an eventual regime change. "Just as the Soviet Union, the Warsaw Treaty and Milosevic's dictatorship could fall, the same was possible in Cuba", he declared.
