Talks with Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister
Mr Tibor Navracsics, head of the parliamentary group of Fidesz - Hungarian Civic Union and Mr Zsolt Németh, chairman of the Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs met Mr Giorgi Baramidze, deputy PM of Georgia at the Krynica Economic Forum in Poland.
Created: 12th September, 2008 09:57

The two parties agreed that the territorial integrity of Georgia should be respected, Georgian refugees should be allowed to return to Abkhazia and South-Ossetia and that political autonomy granted to these territories could mean a solution to the region's "frozen" conflicts.

It was also decided that Georgia's participation in NATO's Membership Action Plan (MAP) should be agreed upon at the next summit of foreign ministers in December. Fidesz furthermore plans to issue a statement to back Georgia joining MAP at the NATO defense ministers upcoming informal meeting in October in Budapest. Mr Giorgi Baramidze said Georgia wholeheartedly supported the construction of EU-backed Nabucco-pipeline.
