Orbán: "I know what is expected of me"

"I warn everyone not to start talking as though we were governing, so long as the last citizen did not cast his or her vote", said Fidesz chairman Viktor Orbán in an interview on Tuesday. "If we start behaving like the outgoing government did, and hand out positions before the elections are over, we will end up like the socialists, voted out of power", he added. |

"I am absolutely aware of what is expected of me", declared the Fidesz chairman. Orbán said the Hungarians wanted "freedom and order", public security without the government interference into people's private lives. "I understand them as their demand is the closest to my ideals: I don't want anyone taking decisions instead of me, but I need the support of the community to make the right choices."
Viktor Orbán outlined the first few steps of the next government, led by Fidesz: he said cases of corruption would be "terminated in an afternoon", unjustifiable severance payments would be "redeemed within a week's time" and consultancy contracts without any real achievements would be "ended and the money taken back". Public security, another major concern, will be given extra attention, said Orbán: "We will deploy police forces to the regions most affected by crime to reestablish public security. Minor thefts will also be tackled", he emphasized.
