On the private audience the Prime Minister and the Pope talked about the situation in Hungary. After the audience Viktor Orbán and Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone discussed certain sections of the treaty between Hungary and the Vatican and agreed that a stable and future-oriented treaty should be prepared.
The delegation was headed by the Prime Minister, and composed of deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, state secretary for social inclusion at the Ministry of Justice Zoltán Balog and Prime Minister's spokesman Péter Szijjártó. The Pope asked Viktor Orbán about the state of affairs in Hungary during the half-hour audience which was held in English, one-to-one, without a translator.
The private audience was followed by a meeting with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone. Both parties were pleased with the work of the Vatican-Hungarian mixed committee. Orbán Vikor told the Cardinal that he and his government considers the free expression of religious convictions and the educational work based on those convictions an important value - added the Prime Minister's Spokesman.
